A child or adolescent may be experiencing distress at school or home resulting in difficulty with social interactions, self-harm, grief, depression, worry, anger, aggression, low self-confidence, fears and/or social anxiety. Marlene Johns is a Registered Counselling Therapist who has extensive experience with and is dedicated to helping young clients and their families navigate through social, emotional, behavioural and/or learning needs.

Individual Therapy
As an adult, you may be experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, anger, low self-esteem, grief, and loss which may negatively affect your personal/family relationships and prevent you from having a happier and healthier life. These feelings may be as a result of dealing with traumatic stress, a major life transition, a disability/chronic illness, work problems, or the loss of a family member or friend. Marlene Johns is a Registered Counselling Therapist who works collaboratively with clients having them actively involved in setting goals, developing healthier coping strategies and problem solving skills. She encourages their use and implementation of positive behavioural changes that support their personal growth and ability to overcome challenges that prevent them from achieving the life they desire.

Even the best of couples can slowly lose their closeness, friendship, and passion for each other. Conflicts, disagreements, hurtful words, angry fights, threats, betrayals of trust and emotional withdrawal can begin to damage the connection between a couple who were once extremely close. Marlene Johns is a Registered Counselling Therapist who provides a supportive and healthy environment where couples can discuss relationship issues and focus on solutions that will help them in regaining the trust and closeness they once had.

"Life's challenges can sometimes become overwhelming and difficult to cope with."
Marlene provides counselling support to adolescents, individuals, couples and families who may be experiencing social, emotional, and interpersonal issues. Marlene is committed to building a therapeutic relationship built on trust, collaboration, acceptance and compassion. She works to provide a supportive and non-judgemental environment where clients can openly and honestly engage in caring, courageous conversations about the issues that are keeping them from feeling their best. She draws from various evidence based approaches to therapy and tailors treatment according to what best meets the needs of each client.
Marlene has over 35 years of experience working with youth and families. She is culturally competent and has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families from diverse cultures locally, in the Middle East and Africa. She understands and appreciates the important role a client's cultural values and world view plays in professional counselling.
